The family of Pelicans is scattered across all continents. The body length is 125 cm to 180 cm. The legs are short and strong, the toes are webbed. The wings are large, the tail is short, and the birds sail excellently. The beak is long, straight and flat, and at the lower part of the beak is a large, stretchy pouch that is used like a fishing net. Pelicans are very sociable and often work together to fish. Some species plunge into the water from great heights. Pelicans nest in colonies.
