Scientific system: Gill et al.

Familia: Sulidae

You can get "Checklist of the Gannets, Boobies of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Boobies is common on all seas near the coast. The birds are 65 cm to 100 cm long. The wings are long and pointed, the legs are short and the feet are large and webbed. The beak is strong and has no nostrils. Boobies are extremely elegant fliers, but quite awkward on the ground. They hunt fish for which they plunge into water from a height of up to 35 m in order to pursue them under water and to grab them with their beak. They breed in colonies on the ground or on trees. The young birds are provided with regurgitated food.
