 Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Australian Mudnesters

Scientific system: Gill et al.

Familia: Corcoracidae

You can get "Checklist of the Australian Mudnesters of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The only two species in the family of Mudnesters are endemic to the eastern part of Australia. Their length is 31 cm and 47 cm. Their habitat is open woodland, but they can also be found in parks and gardens. Their food consists partly of insects and partly of seeds, depending on the season. They breed territorially and monogamous. When rearing, social groups of adults are always involved, who help to build the large mud nests, to feed them for at least 10 weeks and to help with defense over time.
