Scientific system: Gill et al.

Familia: Certhiidae

You can get "Checklist of the Holarctic Treecreepers of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Treecreepers occurs in North America, Eurasia, and Africa. The small birds (11 cm - 15 cm) have short wings, a long, slender and curved beak and very large feet with long claws. They use the short stiff tail as a support when climbing. They climb the trunks with jerky movements and fly from above to the base of the next tree. Their diet consists entirely of insects. The nest is built from natural materials as a bowl in a gap or behind protruding bark.
