The family od Old World Buntings is restricted zo the Old World, i.e. to Eurasia and Africa. They are stubby little birds with conical beaks. They feed on seeds. This family was only recently separated from the earlier, much larger-sized family of Buntings in the system of birds on the basis of DNA studies.
