Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Vireos and Shrike-Babblers

Scientific system: Clements et al.

Familia: Vireonidae

You can get "Checklist of the Vireos and Shrike-Babblers of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of the Vireos and Shrike-babblers was composed only recently on the basis of DNA studies from the Vireos of America and two genera from the Oriental region. Since they are native to the warm regions, they do not migrate far. They are small birds between 10 cm and 20 cm in length. They live mainly on insects, but also on fruits. They rarely look for food on the ground. The bowl-shaped nest is built hanging in a horizontal fork of a branch.
