The small family of Dapple-throat and allies can only be found in Africa. The systematic position of the species has long been doubtful, but they have recently been assigned a common family of their own. The body size ranges from 15 cm to 19 cm. Outwardly, males and females hardly differ. Their habitat are the forests in mountainous landscapes. They feed on invertebrates and berries. Their nests are open and cup-shaped. The clutch comprises two eggs. Little is known about the breeding biology.
