 Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Parrotbills

Scientific system: Del Hoyo et al.

Familia: Paradoxornithidae

You can get "Checklist of the Parrotbills of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Parrotbills is only found in East Asia, usually they do not migrate. The body size is between 9 cm and 28 cm. They have strong beaks and feed on seeds, especially grass seeds. Since cuckoos often intrude as brood parasites into nests of parrotbills, these have developed mechanisms to recognize parasitic eggs and reject incubation.
