Birds of the Philippines

€ 14.99 *

The Philippines is an archipelagic country in the west of the Pacific Ocean and consists of 7641 islands. The climate is tropical-maritime and is usually hot and humid. The country is one of the 17 megadiverse states, which not only have a wide variety of plant and animal species, but are also home to many endemic species. With more than 240 endemic bird species, the country is a hotspot for birders. The number of national parks is changing rapidly, increasing by law from 35 to 107 between 2012 and 2018. But BirdLife International has also registered well over 100 IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas). In addition, BirdLife International has identified 10 different EBAs (Endemic Bird Areas) within the Philippines, i.e. areas with a large number of bird species with a very small range. If you visit the Philippines, you should bring enough time with you, because of course the visitor is often dependent on using watercraft for transport from island to island.
