Birds of Morocco

€ 8.49 *

Morocco is a fascinating country with a multitude of landscapes making it favorite destination for tourists and providing a basis for a high avidiversity. There are not only 12 national parks, but also 24 wetlands are protected because of their international importance according to the Ramsar Convention. The long coastline with its lagoons, the mountains reaching more the 4100 m altitude, the challenging arid areas of the Sahara are attractions for birdwatchers. And Marocco lies on the East Atlantic Flyway, a migration route used every year by about 90 million birds. Last not least, Morocco hosts the most important population of the Northern Bald Ibis, which was once widely distributed over Europe and is now critically endangered. BirdLife International has designated 49 areas as IBA (Important Bird Area), these are areas that are of global importance for the conservation of bird life.
