Birds of Mexico

€ 22.49 *

Mexico is famous for its wide variety of habitats. These include such extremes as harsh desert, arid scrub, tropical deciduous forest, lowland rainforest, oak and pine forests in the highlands, cloud forest, paramo, permanent snow and mangrove at sea level. This makes Mexico one of the 17 megadiverse countries in the world. With more than 1000 species of birds, avidiversity is extraordinarily high; about 10% of the bird species are endemic. Mexico has 22 'Endemic Bird Areas' (EBA) declared by BirdLife International, including the islands Cozumel, Guadalupe, Clarión and Socorro. 68 national parks have been established to protect flora and fauna.
