Birds of Uruguay

€ 10.49 *

Though one of the smallest countries in South America, Uruguay has a large variety of birds. Uruguay succeeded in combining economical and political progress with effective protection of nature. For example, the lagoons on Uruguay's east coast are recognized as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention and and are a paradise for thousands of resident waterbirds as well as migratory waders. The Central Hill Country has arguably the most impressive landscape in Uruguay with many rare birds. It is famous for its sub-tropical forests. The new National Park Esteros de Farrapos and Islands of River Uruguay, too, belongs to the wetlands protected according the Ramsar Convention. Given a mild climate, Uruguay is definitely an attractive destination for the keen birder.
