Birds of New Zealand

€ 6.49 *

New Zealand is a country with a large number of introduced animals that threaten and in some cases have already extinct the native avifauna. However, it gives hope that New Zealand is now a leader in the eradication of introduced species. In fact, New Zealand's birdlife is more peculiar than in any other country: nearly half of the native bird species is/was endemic. BirdLife International has recognized six areas as Endemic Bird Areas (EBA-P). In addition to the two main islands, these are the Chatham Islands, the Antipodes, the Auckland Islands and the Snares/Stewart Islands. In other words, practically the entire country is an EBA. Apart from that, New Zealand is one of the best destinations for watching seabirds.
