Scientific system: Clements et al.

Familia: Coliidae

You can get "Checklist of the Mousebirds of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Mousebirds is endemic to sub-Saharan Africa. Their total length is 29 cm to 36 cm, the narrow tail makes up more than two thirds of the length. The head is small with a short powerful beak. The legs are small, their four toes point forward, but the two outer toes are turning toes. They are very sociable, sleep huddled and prune each other. Beak and feet come into play when climbing in the trees. They feed mainly on fruits. The couple build a bowl in the tree out of sticks and bark. The two to four eggs are incubated by both parents. The young leave the nest long before they are fully fledged, climb around, but return in the evening to be huddled.
