Scientific system: Howard et al.

Familia: Glareolidae

You can get "Checklist of the Coursers and Pratincoles of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Coursers and Pratincoles is common in the Old World. They are 15 cm to 25 cm long. The Coursers have long legs, short wide wings and a longer beak, while the Pratincoles have long pointed wings, a forked tail, medium-long legs and a short beak. Coursers are ground birds and good runners, Pratincoles are good fliers whose flight style is reminiscent of swallows. The nest is dug out on the ground; both parents breed and take care of the precocial chicks.
