The family of Toucans occurs in all tropical regions of America. The body length ranges from 30 cm to 60 cm. They have small round wings, a long tail, and a brightly colored, greatly enlarged beak. The long tongue is brush-shaped. Forests are their habitat. Toucans are very sociable birds. They live on fruits, berries, insects and spiders, the larger species also have eggs, nestlings and fish. They breed in tree cavities where they lay two to four eggs. Both adult birds incubate them and take care of them after they hatch.
