Scientific system: Clements et al.

Familia: Bucerotidae

The family of Hornbills is found in tropical areas of Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The body length of the birds is from 32 cm to 140 cm. Most species have a casque on their upper mandible. They live in forests and are tree dwellers and diurnal omnivores. The nests are created in holes or crevices, with the female walling herself in with mud or droppings, leaving only a small opening through which the male can transfer food. The young hatch after 30 to 50 days of incubation; during this time the female molts.
