Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Cisticolas and allies

Scientific system: Howard et al.

Familia: Cisticolidae

You can get "Checklist of the Cisticolas and allies of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The family of Cisticolas and allies occurs in the Old World, but is confined to temperate and warm areas. This family was recently separated from the earlier extensive family of Old World Warblers and reorganized based on DNA studies. They are small birds between 9 cm and 20 cm in length. Many of the species have long and graduated tails. They live on small invertebrates. The nests are made with a lot of effort, some species, the tailor birds, literally sew large leaves together to give the nest a cover.
