AVITOPIA - Asian Barbets

The family of Asian Barbets is restricted to the Indomalayan region. They become 15 cm to 30 cm long. They look a bit plump and have large beaks that are surrounded by bristles. Their habitat is the interior of forests. They contribute to the spread of seeds by eating fruit whole and later regurgitate indigestible material. But they also eat a wide variety of small animals. They nest in caves that they bore into trees. They lay 2 to 4 eggs, which they incubate for 13 to 15 days.
