Origma

The family of the Thornbills and Gerygones occurs in Australasia from Myanmar to Australia to New Zealand. Their body length is between 8 cm and 19 cm. They have short rounded wings, slender bills, long legs and a short tail. Their habitat is woodland or scrubland. Most species are terrestrial, some species live in treetops, another in rocky landscapes. They feed mainly on insects, only a few on seeds or fruits. They lay 1 to 4 eggs and the breeding season is exceptionally long for passerines, up to 24 days. However, hatching takes place completely simultaneously.
