 Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Mottled Berryhunter

Scientific system: Clements et al.

Familia: Rhagologidae

You can get "Checklist of the Mottled Berryhunter of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

The only species in the family of Berryhunters is endemic to New Guinea. It was previously assigned to the family of Whistlers, but recent studies have shown that the Berryhunters can claim a family of their own. The body length ranges from 15 cm to 16.5 cm. Berryhunters live in mountain forests at low altitudes. They mainly eat medium-sized berries and move in the middle tree positions. The nest is an open bowl in which a single egg is placed. Nothing else is known about the breeding biology.
