The family of Fantails occurs in southeast Australasia from India to the Fiji Islands. The body length ranges from 11.5 cm to 22 cm. Like many other birds - but different from e.g. the drongos (with 10) - they have 12 tail feathers that they often spread. They are very lively and usually hunt insects in flight. Their nests are small and cup-shaped and usually contain 2 to 4 eggs. Both parents take care of the offspring.
