The family of Long-tailed Tits is found in North America and Eurasia. They are tiny to small birds with a body length of 8.5 cm to 14 cm. They have short round wings and short bills. The tail is disproportionately long. Long-tailed tits build relatively tall closed nests with a side entrance near the top. The nests are camouflaged with lichen on the outside and lined with lots of small feathers on the inside. The female alone incubates a clutch of up to 12 eggs.
