The family of Petrels is at home at sea all over the world. They essentially use the land for breeding, and some species even do so on the coast of Antarctica. Most of the species are migratory birds. The body length ranges from 30 cm to 90 cm. The birds have long, pointed wings and short tails, and their feet are webbed. The smaller species breed in caves or crevices, they defend the young birds by vomiting stinking oil.
