The species was initially assigned alternatively to thrushes, mockingbirds and wrens, but at the beginning of this millennium it received the rank of a separate family. The body size is 23 cm. Their habitat are lakes, marshes and wet meadows. Their diet consists largely of insects. The Donacobiuses live in pairs and build an open nest in the reeds or grass. Adult offspring help to care for the young of the following generations.
