 Avidiversity  AVITOPIA - Babblers

Scientific system: Clements et al.

Familia: Timaliidae

You can get "Checklist of the Babblers of Planet Earth" as an e-book here.

Several families have been separated from the former large family of the Old World Babblers, so that the range of the reduced family is now limited to Asia from Pakistan to the Philippines. They have a weak flight and are not strongly migratory. Old World Babblers are small to medium-sized forest inhabitants. They feed primarily on insects and other invertebrates, some species also eat plant-based foods when insects are scarce. The nest is usually built close to the ground from plant parts. The birds are monogamous and both parents take part in the brood care.
