The Yellow-breasted Chat was considered to belong to the family of American Warblers until recently, before it was granted the rank of family. It occurs from Canada to Mexico. The birds reach a total length of 17 cm to 19 cm. Their habitat are areas in which dense shrubbery is common. They are omnivores. Their nests are cup-shaped and are often only 2.5 m above the ground in dense scrubs.
