Birds of Andorra

The dwarf state of Andorra is located in a high valley of the Pyrenees. The climate is known as a high mountain climate with Mediterranean influences. The country is very mountainous: the altitude ranges from 840 to 2942 m. The surrounding Pyrenees are considered an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) by BirdLife International. Andorra has two natural parks: the Parc Natural de la Vall de Sorteny and the Parc Natural Comunal de les Valls del Comapedrosa, both between 1000 and 2000 hectares in size. The most interesting bird species are the Capercaillie and the Griffon, Egyptian and Bearded Vultures.
