Birds of Greece

€ 8.49 *

Greece is located in the south of the Balkans. It has a very long coastline (13,676 km) and several thousand islands, 227 of which are inhabited. Most of the country is mountainous, with Olympus (2918 m) as the highest peak. The climate is primarily Mediterranean. Greece protects its natural treasures with twelve national parks (two of which are maritime) and many nature reserves. In addition, Greece has acceded to the Ramasar Convention and has recognized ten wetlands of their international importance. Indeed, the bird life in Greece is exceptional. BirdLife International has registered 204 areas on its soil as IBAs (Important Bird Areas), i.e. as areas of global importance for the bird world.
