Birds of the United Kingdom

€ 7.49 *

Birdwatching, you might think, was invented in the UK, it is so popular here. In fact, the British have contributed greatly to ornithology around the world. The bird life in Britain is indeed alluring, diverse and interesting. Part of Scotland has been classified as EBAs (Secondary Endemic Bird Area) by BirdLife International because it is home to an endemic species of bird, the Scottish Crossbill. There are also some subspecies that only occur in Bitannia, e.g. the British Black Grouse. The geography with beaches, cliffs, hills, plains and mountains (up to 1345m) is diverse and the climate is temperate oceanic. Nature is protected by 15 national parks and several thousand nature reserves. BirdLife International has declared more than 300 of these as IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area). Nowhere in Great Britain is one far from a nature reserve.
