Birds of Latvia

€ 6.99 *

Latvia is the middle of the Baltic states. It is a hilly, largely forested country with many lakes and a cool, temperate climate. The highest point is only 311 m, and Latvia has a long tradition of nature conservation. Today there are 4 national parks and around 700 nature reserves, including the Pape nature reserve, which not only has an almost complete fauna of large animals, but also serves as an important resting area for migratory birds. Latvia comprises more than 70 areas that BirdLife International considers important for bird life and biodiversity. Many of them are former Soviet firing ranges. Today you can find rare species of birds such as European Rollers and Corn Crakes here.
