Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic states. The landscape is characterized by agricultural use, but about a third of the country is forested and about 3% of the country is still moors. Nature is promoted by more than 200 protected areas, five of which are national parks and seven protected areas according to the RAMSAR Convention. BirdLife International has also designated more than 80 areas as IBA (Importand Bird and Biodiversity Area). As in all Baltic states, one can also find millions of migratory birds resting in Lithuania. Also of particular interest are some rare native bird species, including the Aquatic Warbler, which is now considered endangered. There are many objects of interest for bird watchers in Lithuania.
