Birds of Romania

€ 8.99 *

Romania is the largest country in southeast Europe. The Carpathian Mountains dominate central Romania. To the east Romania borders with 225 km of coastline on the Black Sea, in the west the Pannonian Plain begins, in the south the Danube forms a large part of the national border. The climate is temperate, but is exposed to different influences depending on the part of the country. The country is covered to 27% by forest and contains the largest undisturbed forest area in Europe. The Danube forms the second largest delta in Europe, which is also a World Heritage Site. Romania has set up thirteen national parks and three biosphere reserves to protect nature. The birds finds a great variety of habitats. As a result, BirdLife International has identified 130 IBAs (Important Bird Areas), areas of global importance for the avifauna on earth.
