Birds of Sweden

€ 7.49 *

Sweden stretches in Scandinavia from the Kattegat to over the Arctic Circle to the north. There are six major habitats in Sweden: the fell mountains, the boreal coniferous forest, the deciduous forest, the wetlands, the lakes and rivers, and the coasts and skerries. All six habitats are to be covered by the 30 national parks. In addition, there are almost 20,000 nature reserves in Sweden, of which over 3,500 are strictly protected. Thus, more than 15% of the country's area is under nature protection. Because of the geographical location, summer days and winter nights are relatively long and north of the Arctic Circle they each last half a year. The climate is quite mild due to the proximity to the Atlantic. Bird species with very small distribution areas do not occur in Sweden, but according to BitdLife International, Sweden has more than 80 IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas). A detailed visit to Sweden is definitely worthwhile for bird watchers, especially in the summer.
