Birds of Azerbaijan

€ 8.99 *

Azerbaijan is located in the South Caucasus region and is bordered to the east by the Caspian Sea, the largest lake on earth. The altitudes range from -28 m (Caspian Sea) to 4466 m (Bazardüzü). About 40% of the country is occupied by the Greater Caucasus, Lesser Caucasus and Talysh Mountains. The country lies on the edge of the temperate and subtropical climate zones. As a result, the climate ranges from semi-arid semi-desert to mountainous with high rainfall to humid subtropical with even higher rainfall. Tourism plays an important role in Azerbaijan and nature has been increasingly protected since the 21st century - also by several national parks. The bird life is delightful, so BirdLife International has registered more than 50 IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas) for Azerbaijan. The Shirvan National Park is particularly famous for its birdlife. where many migratory birds rest in autumn.
