Japan has a predominantly temperate climate, which, however, changes significantly from north to south. This results in a high biodiversity. Japan protects it through a dense network of national parks, 37 RAMSAR wetlands and 4 World Natural Heritage sites. The birdlife is rich, not least because Japan is crossed by many migratory birds in spring and autumn and is also visited by many hibernating birds during the cold season. But in Japan you can also find more than 20 species of birds that breed nowhere but here.
