North Korea is a mountainous state in the northern part of the Korean peninsula. Its climate combines continental and oceanic characteristics with four distinct seasons. North Korea aims to increase the number of foreign visitors. The Korean peninsula is located at an important migration route and also is an important wintering destination for birds. BirdLife International has registered 33 sites as IBAs (Important Bird Areas) with global relevance to bird life. So the avidiversity of North Korea is quite high.
