Birds of Pakistan

€ 14.99 *

Pakistan is divided into three major geographic areas: the highlands in the north, the Indus River plain, and the Balochistan Plateau. The highlands contain the Karakoram, Hindu Kush and Pamir mountains reaching altitudes of more than 8000 m. Most of the 29 national parks are located in the northern third of the country, many of them were designated to protect the environment. The Indus River plain contains the only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Lal Suhanra National Park. The biodiversity and hence the avidversity with more than 700 bird species in Pakistan is quite high, however, none of them appears to be endemic. Many migrantory birds rest or hibernate here on their way between Asia and Africa.
