€ 9.49 *

Uzbekistan is a hot and dry landlocked country in Central Asia. The climate of Uzbekistan is considered moderate, but 80% of the area consists of desert and steppe. The Aral Sea, which is drying up due to overexploitation, is developing into the Aralkum Desert; this means one of the greatest man-made environmental disasters. The Kyzylkum Desert stretches to the south-east and covers two-fifths of the area of Uzbekistan. Southwest is the desert Ustyurt Plateau. The east of the country is mountainous and reaches an altitude of 4643 m above sea level with the Hazrat Sulton. There are also forests in this part of the country. Due to its size and a certain variety of landscape zones, Uzbekistan has a rich wildlife. Approximately 2% of the country's area is under nature protection. The Chatkal Nature Reserve is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and extends to Kyrgyzstan. Zomin National Park is also known as the Switzerland of Uzbekistan because of its beauty. BirdLife International has registered more than 50 IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas) for Uzbekistan. Tourism and related infrastructure are developing.
