Ethiopia is a large landlocked country in the Horn of Africa. The Ethiopian Highlands are the largest contiguous mountain range in Africa. It is significantly cooler in the highlands than in the rest of the country, where there is a wide variety of climates and vegetation areas. These range from the deserts in the east to the Afromontane zones in the north and southwest to the tropical forests in the south. Ethiopia has over 800 species of birds, and more than 20 of them are endemic. According to BirdLife International, four EBAs (Endemic Bird Areas) extend to Ethiopia. The country has 13 national parks and many other nature reserves. One can only hope that Ethiopia will succeed in solving its conflicts and structural problems, because the bird life is absolutely fascinating and is an attraction for every bird watcher.
