Birds of Benin

€ 16.99 *

Benin is a West African country with 121 km of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, on the Bight of Benin. The landscape is relatively flat with the exception of the Atacora Mountains in the northwest of the country; there the height of 658 m is reached. The climate is hot and humid, only the north is semi-arid. Benin shares the W National Park, whose name alludes to its W-shape, with two other countries. Benin's second national park, the Pendjari National Park, is characterized by a large number of bird species occurring there. In addition, BirdLife International has accepted 4 other areas as IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas). Benin has also started to promote tourism for economic reasons.
