Birds of the Ivory Coast

€ 17.49 *

Ivory Coast is the country with the highest biodiversity in West Africa. The country's climate changes from the permanently humid tropical climate on the Atlantic coast to a dry climate in the extreme north. Accordingly, two vegetation zones can be distinguished: the Guinean zone with rain forests and mangroves in the south and the Sudanese zone with dry forests and savannahs in the north. The species-rich fauna naturally includes a lush birdlife. Nature is also protected in Côte d'Ivoire through the establishment of several national parks and nature reserves, three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. BirdLife International has registered an EBA (Endemic Bird Area) in which Ivory Coast has a stake. It bears this name because numerous bird species with restricted distribution areas occur here. Apart from that, BirdLife International designates 14 areas as IBA (Important Bird and Biodiversity Area) for the Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast is a country with many difficulties, but currently its economy is one of the fastest growing in Africa. So it will become easier and easier to travel to Ivory Coast for bird watching.
