Birds of Gabon

€ 16.99 *

Gabon is on the Atlantic coast of Central Africa; the coast is 885 km long. The equator runs through the country. It has a tropical climate and more than 70% of the land area is covered by tropical rainforest. As a result, the biodiversity in this country is extremely high. Gabon protects its nature by establishing 13 national parks, which together cover about 10% of the area and are spread all over the country. BirdLife International has identified not only seven IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas) but also two EBAs (Endemic Bird Areas) that Gabon shares with its neighboring countries. Despite the weak infrastructure, there is some tourism in Gabon, especially to the national parks.
