Birds of Guinea

€ 16.49 *

Guinea is located in West Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. The most important landscape types are maritime Lower Guinea (Guinée maritime), mountainous Central Guinea (Fouta Djallon) up to 1752 m asl, flatter Upper Guinea (Haute-Guinée) and wooded hills (Guinée forestière). There is a tropical alternating climate with different rainy seasons; these conditions result in considerable biodiversity and rich bird life. As a small country, it has no endemic bird species, but numerous species with a restricted range. Guinea protects its natural treasures in two national parks, Badlar National Park and Haut Niger National Park, and other protected areas. While infrastructure is generally poor, tourism has increased recently.
