Birds of Togo

€ 16.99 *

Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa. Togo has 56 km of coastline on the Atlantic. The central part of Togo is dominated by the Togo Atakora Mountains, a low mountain range; Mont Agou, an island mountain, is to the east of this chain. At 986 m, Mont Agou is the highest mountain in Togo. In the lower areas to the north and south, savannah predominates, in the south there are also wooded areas. The climate is tropical-humid throughout the year. Togo has established 3 national parks to protect nature, Fazao Malfakassa National Park, Fosse aux Lions National Park and Oti-Kéran National Park. Biodiversity in all three parks has suffered greatly as a result of unrest. Nevertheless, BirdLife International has registered these three parks and the Misahöhe Forest Reserve as IBAs (Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas). Togo is considered one of the least developed countries, and the infrastructure is correspondingly weak.
