Birds of the Central African Republic

€ 19.49 *

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Central Africa. The highest mountains reach 1420 m on the border with Cameroon and 1330 m on the border with Sudan, but most of the country lies on a plateau averaging 600 m in altitude. The climate is tropical and gets drier and hotter from south to north. The vegetation changes accordingly from tropical rainforest to tree savannah to dry savannah. The Central African Republic protects its nature with 5 national parks, some of which are also home to birds with a small distribution area. There are no endemic bird species, but the bird life is extremely diverse. The Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world and unfortunately the infrastructure is inadequate. Only about 3% of the road network is asphalted and passable during the rainy season. There are also numerous roadblocks, some of which illegally require tolls.
