Birds of Nicaragua

€ 16.99 *

Nicaragua is the largest of the Central American countries, but probably the least known. But by 2006, tourism has become the second largest industry in the "land of lakes and volcanoes", with some emphasis on ecotourism. Nicaragua has 78 protected areas, covering about 17.3% of the nation's landmass. The first national park, Parque Nacional Volcan Masaya, is the largest and easily accessible. Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve reaches 1344 m. It is a popular tourist attraction and an excellent birding area. Indio Maíz Biological Reserve is particularly rich in biodiversity: it is estimated to be home to over 400 species of birds.
