Birds that are capable of living on the far side of the southern polar circle.

The Antarctis with her extremely low temperatures and violent storms is one of the most hostile environments on earth.
Nevertheless, even south of the southern polar circle some bird species live, which predominantly are able
to survive for a long time in the open sea; they need solid ground essentially for breeding.
But only few species are able to raise their young on ice.
The best way to watch the diversity is to make a sea journey through the Antarctic Ocean.
This bird guide shows all the bird life of the Antarctis (Date 04.12.2024).
The scientific system follows Clements et al. 2017.
