Martinique or Madinina (flower island), as locals like to say, is a mountainous island in the Caribbean with lush tropical vegetation. In the north, Mount Pelée reaches an altitude of almost 1400 m. Not only typical Caribbean birds live in Martinique, but also some bird species that you can only observe there or almost exclusively there. Indeed, it is according to BirdLife International part of a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
Martinique is located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally Martinique belongs to France. Because of the number of bird species with restricted range occurring in this area, BirdLife International assigned it a Primary Endemic Bird Area (EBA-P).
