Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is the name of an archipelago of eight islands located a few kilometers south of Newfoundland in the Atlantic Ocean. The temporarily separated islands of Miquelon and Langlade are now connected by a narrow natural isthmus. The islands are rocky and their coasts are steep. The highest point, the Morne de la Grande Montagne, is 240 m high. The climate is cold and humid with mild winters. Seagulls and auks dominate the birdlife.
The St. Pierre and Miquelon are located in the Atlantic Ocean. Legally the St. Pierre and Miquelon belong to France.
